The climate here is generally mild, but the weather varies from region to region and season to season. Winters are snowy in the north of the state and mild and wet towards the south. Head to the north of the state to keep cool in mid to late summer; in the south of the state, temperatures can reach 40°c.

Come in the spring for orchard blossoms and white asparagus, visit in summer for wine and music festivals and late November and early December for plentiful Christmas festivities.
